Stone Set Ring – £80 per person
In this 5 hour course, you will cover the basics of soldering and leave wearing your stone set ring. This is my most popular course and covers a large variety of silversmithing skills. This course is very fiddly and requires good eyesight! You can choose your desired semi-precious stone to work with. If you would like to make additional rings you can do so for £40 per ring, the average student can’t make more than 3 rings in a day. This course typically runs for 4 hours.
Spinner Ring – £100 per person
During this course, you will learn to make a spinner ring, and you will leave wearing your creation. This silversmithing course can be up to 5 hours long. This course also covers a large variety of silversmithing skills and offers a great foundation. You can add up to 3 spinning bands to your ring, if you would like to add semi-precious stones to your ring you can add them for £10 per stone.
4 Stacking Rings – £90 per person
This is one of the shorter courses I offer, it can be done in 2-3 hours. Although you will learn some very basic soldering skills here, the skills required aren’t quite as refined as the courses above. This is the most accessible silversmithing course I offer and is more suited to teenagers or people with poorer eyesight. You will learn texturising skills and how to solder a simple join!
Sea Glass Jewellery (Ring, Earrings, or Pendant) – £90 per person
During this 6-hour course, you will learn how to set sea glass into silver jewellery! You can either make a ring, earrings (studs or dangle style) or a pendant. Due to its uneven surface sea glass is hard to work with, so I would recommend having a foundation in silversmithing or doing one of my other courses above first. You will get to choose what sea glass you would like to set. You are welcome to bring your own seaglass which you may be able to use.
Precious Metal Clay Jewellery (Ring, Earrings, or Pendant) – £135 per person, includes 20g bag of PMC (RP £50)
During this course, you will make and play with PMC, which is a play dough-type substance that when fired becomes sterling silver. You will not be required to solder or work with any kind of flame for this course. You can either create a ring, a set of earrings or a pendant on this course. This course is suitable for beginners and children, it’s a great play session.
Wax Carved Jewellery Course – £145 per person
This course doesn’t require the use of any soldering. During the duration of the day, we will play with carving/melting wax. You can either create earrings, a pendant or a ring of any level of detail. Once you are happy with your creation, I will send your wax off to be cast in sterling silver. You can cast in gold if desired, but there will be a significant extra cost for this. This can be arranged on the day. This course is a great intro to the wonderful world of wax carving and is suitable for children. Your finished piece(s) will be sent to you within 3 weeks.
Wax Carved Signet Ring – £145 per person
In this workshop we will design and carve your own signet ring. A great foundation to the incredible world of wax carving. The cost includes having your signet ring cast in sterling silver, gold casting can be arranged on the day but there will be significant extra costs involved. There is no soldering involved so this course is suitable for teenagers and children. Your finished piece(s) will be sent to you within 3 weeks.
2 Day Jewellery Making Course – £200 per person
This course will cover a huge amount of information! This is a great introduction to silversmithing, and makes a great foundation. I can either provide an series of projects (of increasing complexity), or you can show me some projects you would like to complete (once you have the basics down). This course runs for 5 hours a day, and makes the most sense to run over the weekend. Silver isn’t included in the cost, but I can give you estimates of how much each project will cost in advance.
Mitsuro Hikime Wax Course – £120 per person
During this 4 hour course you can learn all about working with Mitsuro Hikime wax, and how to make it. We will learn how to work with this incredibly malleable wax, and how to make beautiful abstract forms. After you have made some pieces, I will teach you how to make your own Mitsuro Hikime wax, and you can leave with your own 30g bar to take home.
In additon, I can teach this course online, for an additional cost as it includes a 15 piece kit toolkit. It includes 90g of pre made wax, the recipie and tools to create 200g of fresh Mitsuro wax.
