Want to learn silversmithing while in Cornwall? This is the perfect rainy day activity in Cornwall. I offer a range of classes from my studio in Penryn (near Falmouth). I can tutor up to 4 people at a time.
Closed-toe shoes are recommended as well as hair tied back.
Please note, that my studio is shared with a few other artists so there may be other people around while I’m teaching.
Classes are suitable for anyone over 16; for ages 14-16 they will need to be accompanied by an adult who is also booked into the class.
I offer a few different types of courses…
Make A Stone Set Ring – £80 p.p – Learn the basics through to more advanced skills by making a stone set ring. You will work with an 8mm stone of your choice and be able to leave wearing your ring. If you would like to make additional rings during your course you can do so for £40 per ring, the average student can’t normally make more than 3 rings in a day. This silversmithing course can run for 4-6 hours.
Make x4 Stacking Rings – £80 p.p. – Learn some basic soldering and texturing by making x4 stacking rings. This course requires much less refined skills than the course above and only requires 3 or so hours. You can make additional rings at £25 per ring, assuming you have time. You can leave wearing your new rings!
Make A Spinner Ring – £100 p.p – Make a spinner ring with up to 3 bands, if you would like to add stones to your bands you can do so for £10 per stone (we will use bezel cups to help speed up the process here). You can leave wearing your creation!
Make Sea Glass Jewellery – £85 p.p – On this course, I will teach you how to make either a ring, earrings, or a pendant out of sea glass which will then be set in sterling silver. You will be able to choose the sea glass you would like to set. This course is the most time-consuming and can run from 4-7 hours.
Make Wax Carved Jewellery – £140 p.p. – On this day course, you can make a ring, one large pendant (up to 3cm) or some earrings (up to 1.5cm each in size). If you would like to make a particularly chunky ring you are welcome to pay the price difference. If you would like your ring cast in gold this is also an option, but you will have to pay for the gold required (gold is x60 more expensive than silver so this may be costly!)
Make PMC Jewellery – £135 p.p – On this day course you can either make a ring (I will solder this together for you), earrings or a pendant. A 20g bag of sterling silver PMC is included with this course, worth over £50. You can take this home with you if you have any left.
